Community
A relationship of contribution to the local and global community is integral to the fabric of Manifest Trainings. For this purpose, successful completion of our Leadership Training requires that each Leadership Team (LT) create a unique “legacy project,” either of their own design or in partnership with an existing non-profit organization. Each legacy project is a team-executed project that leaves some form contributing impact on the world; it is a commitment to improve the lives of others.
The diversity in these projects is vast, as is the diversity in our graduates themselves. Some ways in which individual members of our staff and graduates of this work have most recently contributed to the world include:
• Multiple travels to Guatemala to volunteer for YMCI, (Youth Microcredit International), a non-profit organization empowering local merchants to lift their families out of poverty in the rural communities of Guatemala
• Back to school drive for school supplies for children living in economically challenged neighborhoods of NYC
• Grass-roots inner city youth retreats from New York to Philadelphia for doorto- door canvassing during the presidential campaign, for the purpose of student leadership training, education in social justice and training in civic responsibility
• Legal representation of youth in the juvenile justice and foster care systems
• Volunteer speeches and workshops for empowerment in halfway houses for women in recovery for drug and alcohol addiction
• “Feria de Salud: por tu Familia” (Health Fair: for your Family) In partnership with the American Diabetes Association: Health Fairs targeting citizens of the Bronx most vulnerable to diabetes
